PROPOSED RE-STRUCTURING OF THE STUDENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE * The Student Affairs Committee agreed on the following wording: nThe Student Affairs Committee will consist of 6 members elected by the faculty and 6 members representing the student body, 1* They will consider and act upon requests for re-admission of withdrawn or disqualified students» 2* They will approve policy on scholarships and financial aid to students. 3* They will review the functions and practices of the Office of Student Affairs, the sports program, and all student services* They will be a court of last resort with power of final university decision in student disciplinary cases, 5, They will be receptive to any requests from the Student Government to consider petitions for redress of grievences from students, whatever the nature of these grievences may be: These petitions to be passed on to appropriate A.U.C. authorities* The Vice President for Student Development will be Chairman of the Student Affairs Committee, and the Dean of Students and the Registrar will be non-voting ex-officio members. Student members must be from the upper classes and the graduate program" The committee asked that the above proposal be sent to the faculty with a request for an amendment to their by-laws that would incorporate the proposal* Note; The proposal was approved unanimously by the committee with the exception of Item 1, where one dissenting vote was recorded
