taUTES OF THC COUNCIL A1EKICAN UNIVERSITY AT CAIRO Oct. 30, 1923 The Council of the American University at Cairo met on October 30, 1923 with the following members presents Dr. R. S, McClenahan, Professors Jeffery, Dr* McClenahan opened the meeting with prayer. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. t • It was agreed to renew our advertising in the Egypt and Sudan Annual, and the Bursar was requested to send the necessary L.E.5 to the publishers to cover the renewal. 290. SALARY ADVANCE On the recommendation of the College Faculty, it was ' - - agreed to raise the salary of Selim Effendi, the Lab- oratory Assistant from L.E.6.50 to L.E.7 per month animate this raise to cover the period from now until the end of June, 1925. 291. PIANO On the recommendation of the College Faculty it was agreed to rent Prof. McQuiston’s piano temporarily and to request the Board c£ Trustees to restore to the Budget this year the former appropriation for a piano which had been carried in the Budget, but was omitted this year by mistake. 287. EDDYfS The Bursar referred to the Council Dr. Eddy*s request MEDICAL BILLS for the payment of medical bills amounting to $33.00 for innodilations and vaccinations for himself and family administered before leaving America on the advice of Mr. Lum. It was agreed that before any action could be taken on this request it would be necessary for the Bursar to correspond with the Eoard of Trustees and with Mr. Lum at Philadelphia, since the whole question of the payment of medical bills by the University is being investigated by the Board, I 293. GAS AND ELEC- The Bursar was authorized to pay the gas and electric / TRIO BILLS bills (covering only rent of meters) in FUit No.11 at 8 Suliman Pasha during the period when this flat was without a tenant. 294, MAIL SYSTEM The installation of an inexpensive set of boxes to / hold incoming mail to be under the supervision of the Bursar1 s office was authorized. This system is to be set up in the room now occupied by the Bursar’s office, but it is to be outside the partition so v^that all may have easy access to it. 295, GAS A ELECTRIC The Bursar was authorized to make arrangements with - CORRECTS Lebon & Co. to have all gas and electric contracts held by permanent members of the University staff made out in the name of the University instead of in the name of the individual. Shis is recommended by the Auditors because the deposits covering these contracts are paid by the University and not by the individual
