MINUTES OF COUNCIL May 25, 1929. 1007 Organization: Members present: Dr. Watson (in chair), Messrs. Galt, Garthoff, McQuiston, Cleland and Jeffery. Mr. Parker sat as consultative member. Dr. Watson opened with prayer. 1008 Minutes of meeting of April 12th were approved with corrections. 1009 Property Committee: The Chairman of Property Committee presented minutes of meeting of April 9th and May 25rd, reporting the transaction of routine business, and recommending - I. The sub-letting of the Ma’adi house to Mr. Peterson from Sept. 1st, 1929, to Aug. 51st, 1920, at same rates we pay at present. II. The purchase of Mr. Cleland’s equity in the garage on the University property. III. The sub-letting of Mr. Cleland’s flat to Mr. Ned Henry from Sept. 1st, 1929, to Sept. 1st, 1950, at rate of £.E.15.500 per month. No.212 of Minutes of meeting of May 25rd was held over. 1010 Finance Committee: The Chairman of the Finance Committee presented Minutes of meeting of April 1st, 26th and May 1st, reporting the transaction of routine business and recommending - I.. The purchase of a telescope for the College Department at a cost of £.55 to be charged to General Emergency Fund. II. That over-expenditure of £.E.40 on library equipment account and £.E.20 on library maintenance account, be charged to General Emergency Fund. III. That in view of the emergency case arising over Mr. McElroy, no consideration be given to any proposal to assist a Short Term teacher on medical bills unless he has a membership in the Anglo-American Hospital. 17. That a scale of rental rates for Ewart Hall be established as follows: £.E.11.000 for stage and entire ground floor £.E.16.000 for stage and entire hall - (continued)
