Report of the Government Relations Committee Dr. Pedersen reported that in addition to the replenishment of the U.S. Embassy Trust to $50 million worth of pounds, as required by legislation, it looks as if AID has been able to negotiate an agreement with the Egyptian Government to bring the Trust annually up to the $50 million level. As the pound is expected to continue to deteriorate this could be highly valuable to AUC. h could mean in 1991, for example, the addition of as mush as LE15 million. AUC's best chance at obtaining funds through the foreign to local currency debt conversion program will probably be through AID deobligated/reobligated procedures, though there is some Egyptian sensitivity towards using its AID appropriations...
