2 4. Mr. MacDonald then discussed the portfolio of watercolors by Mr. Ferro. He presented the portfolio folders to the committee, and suggested that the artist do several more paintings. He also reviewed the cost of the portfolios, and thought that the portfolios would make excellent gifts for University benefactors. He thought that auctioning a "limited edition" of watercolors at the fall book party would be a good idea. It was agreed that the name of each print be placed on each painting or included on a separate sheet in the portfolio. 5. The next issue discussed was that of television publicity and promotion of AUC. Mr. MacDonald stated that while a survey in the U.S. has shown that there would be some interest in short clips on students in the UniversiLy, it would be a very costly venture at this point. Dr. Pedersen mentioned the fact that the University had recently acquired some high quality television production equipment, and that a film might be less costly if AUC's equipment and/or students were used. Mr. MacDonald thought that if some student productions were done, the committee could review them and decide if they should be used. 6. The last item discussed was special events in the near future. Mr. MacDonald presented the idea of a benefit luncheon in Washington or New York honoring a member of Congress. He thought that Senator Hatfield would be a good candidate for a Washington luncheon. He mentioned that depending on the size of the event and ticket prices, AUC could make a profit on this. Mr. MacDonald emphasized that an event such as this should take place this year. Mr. MacDonald also brought up the issue of a large event in New York for the presentation of The History of AUC. He suggested that this event be held during the fall board of trustees meeting. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Egyptian and Islamic wings) or the Museum of Natural History were mentioned as possible locations for the party. Dr. Pedersen felt that two large events in one year was too much. He also thought that it would be difficult to get AUC alumni to attend an expensive luncheon. Mr. MacDonald claimed that by inviting AUC alumni, government officials, and corporations, the luncheon could be successful. He emphasized the point that whether or not it would make money for the University, AUC should have a major promotional event in the U.S. this year. Dr. Pedersen agreed to one event, and thought that it should be centered around the publication of the book. Mr. Devine suggested the possibility of a book party at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as a very large event with a high official of the Egyptian government attending
