I I I Agenda VI-3 Agenda VI-2a Budget, 1962-63 2-b,c. Agenda VI, 4 - 6 - Dr. Harbison stated his opinion that a long-seale, large financing program is necessary tor the University's contin­uance. It was suggested that a luncheon be arranged in Washington in an effort to secure support of prominent Congressmen who would be alert to our needs, sympathetic to them and able and willing to support our applications for grants from the government. Senators Fulbright, Symington, Cooper, and Congresswoman Marguerite Church, a friend of Mrs. Lloyd, were suggested. Mrs. Lloyd and Mr. Barco were requested to arrBIlge such a luncheon in Washington early in June. The suggestion was made that an ind1.91dua.l could transfer stock to the University, the University buying the stock at the book or cost value, the difference between cost to the transferor and the market value at the time of transfer to the University would represent a contribution. In this way the donor would retain his original investment and the University would profit by the appreciation in value. upon motion duly seeonded, it was voted ~ the proper officers of the University be empowered to acquire at less than market value securities which may be offered to the University on what is considered a 'part­sale I basis. At the last meeting of the Board the suggestion was made that consideration be given to raising funds for a memorial to Mr. Dag HAlrII'Mrsjkold. Types of possible memorials were discussed - scholarship, a chair, lectureship, or something physical, e.g. a fountain. The Board requested Mr. Barco to talk to Dr. McLain about the feasibility of such a memorial, to have it discussed in Cairo, and to bring a report to the Board at its next meeting. Full data on the budget for 1962-63 had not yet been re­ceived from Cairo. It is hoped that this will be on hand for consideration by the EXecutive Committee at a meeting in May. b. statf salaries were acted on in the Mareh 22 meeting of the EXecutive Committee. c. Report on New Western Staffing and RecOImllendations for Administrative Salaries (attached) was reviewed and ap­proved as presented.
