110 Division of Extension Page 9. A. EXTENSION LECTURES 1936-37 (1) The general topic of lectures this year, "Essentials for National De-velopment in Egypt" was greatly appreciated by the public. The lecture pro-gramme was announced shortly after signing the Treaty between Great Britain and Egypt and the general question that was engaging the enlightened people at that time was, "How to Develop Egypt?" The lecturers showed their appre-ciation of the well chosen topics by accepting the Director's invitation to cooperate in the propramme. Though all of them are busy men, only one person regretted that he could not promise to give a lecture as he was schedu-led for an inspection tour outside of Cairo. Several organizations copied the idea and conducted series of lectures under the following headings, "Our Duty after the Treaty," "Our Cooperative Duty", "Our Social Respons-ibility at the Present Time", and "The Duty of Youth", etc., etc. The Division of Extension is always ahead, and to maintain its popularity it should always present new ideas. (2) Lectures' ride Publicity and Effect: Out of 38 lectures that were given under the Division ofExtension: 22 lectures were published in one or more of the Arabic daily papers, while 6 were printed by the lecturers in pamphlet form for free distribution: 1. 2. Egypt's Need for New Blood n Maitre Fikry Abaza. 2 lectures were broadcast (3) Lecturers: The 38 Arabic lecturers were given by 37 lecturers: 3 women and 34 men; 29 Moslems and 8 Christians. They are from the following classes: Ex ministers 2, Under-Secretary of State 1, Members of the Chamber of Deputies 2, Educationalists 10, High Government Officials 6, Health In-spectors 5, Business men 4, Journalists 3, Lawyers 2, others 2.
