Al]. of us who have met him since his return from missionary work in Irac are impressed with his qualifications. He hasa fluent conuaand of Arabic, an intimate knowledge of Moslems, experience in work with students, a sound philosophy of life and a vital missionary spirit. 7e rejoice in securing his aid. But upon him cannot be laid the whole duty of acc_uainting the students with the unsearchable riches of Christ. This rests upon every member of the staff in that the aim ever before them all is to make the entire college life and work com-pletely Christian. A Christian college is one whose main purpose is to give a Christian education, - to make Christ felt in every department and in all teching. This does not necessarily involve direct evangelistic work, in the ordinary- sense of that term, desirable though that may often be; but it does mean giving an education permeated with Christ. To say that there is a distinctly Christian 'Lay of teaching mathematics or chemistry seems absurd; nevertheless, there is a real difference in the atmosphere of any classroom where the teacher is a Christian and where he is not. We are confident that the men who are our representatives in Cairo earnestly desire to maintain in the college, not only the highest grade of scholarship, but also a Christian character that shall be evi-dent to every student ard to the whole corw .unity they serve. But vve must remember that the task has been made much more difficult by the deplorable reduction in their number. hach member is staggering under an unusual load of teaching and administrative duties. Little time and strength are left him for direct religious work with the students. to must send reenforcemerrts just as rapidly as our finances permit. And meanwhile we must lend there our support by our constant sympathy- and interest repeatedly expressed, and by our pryers daily offered to Him who is able to provide abundantly for all their needs, both the material and the spiritual
