Proposals and ideas from the book by Rodrigues Lapa (1979) that refer to the Galician language are presented, which demonstrates his commitment to the future of Galician. Data from the ongoing language debate in Galicia are provided, as well as a selection of contributions from figures of Roman Philology such Corominas (1976) or Coseriu (1990, 1993, 1996); Guerra da Cal (1985) and Carvalho Calero (1981, 1990); Lindley Cintra (1983) and Rodrigues Lapa (1986); Cunha & Lindley Cintra (1985); and, finally Cunha (1986), Elia (1986, 1996), Chaves de Melo (1990), Azevedo Filho (1993) and Bechara (1993, 1996).
