129I, 79Se and 135Cs are among the most important radionuclides in the biosphere safety assessments of the disposal of spent nuclear fuel. The sorption, retention and migration of these nuclides in the surface environment is of importance when the radiation doses for humans and other organisms in the future is considered. In this doctoral thesis the abiotic and biotic factors affecting the retention of iodide (I-), selenite (SeO32-) and cesium (Cs+) in a nutrient-poor boreal bog environment were investigated.
