BEAUTIFUL TREES THAT WILL ADD TO YOUR HObE AND FESTIVITIES. The Magrath United Church Wcmen held their annual Christmas Pot Luck Supper and Party Tuesday evening in the Church Hall. Some forty women enjoyed a del­icious supper served by a number of the women's husbands which was most appreciated. President Esther Tocmer greeted the guests following which Norma Owens led in a Candlelight Worship Service of the U.C.W. Purpose - Witness, Study, Fellowship and Service. Miss Sharon Sam presided at the piano for the singing of Carols "Angels iron the Realms of Glory" and "Joy to the World with the follaving ladies taking part in the service - Greta Mai, Irene Ririe Vicki Hepburn, Jackie Moors, Virginia Hillmer, Elsie Owens, Carol Bradley, Betty Twitchen, Esther Tocmer and Faye Bort. Sharon Sam then entertained with piano selections "Jingle Bells" and "What Child Is This' and accordian selections "Silent Night" and "0 Core All Ye Faithful" which were much enjoy­ed. The new executive for the ccming year was introduced which included President - Jackie Moors; 1st Vioe Vicki Hepburn, 2nd Vice - Barbara lewis, Secretary - Virginia Hillmer, Treasurer - Irene Ririe, Program - Grace Tocmer, Margaret Rarick and Norma Owens. Climaxing the evening was the arrival of Santa to distribute gift« to all the "good" wcmen present. With the Christmas Season upon us, we would like to print the following Christmas Cake recipe for those who are still contemplating baking one. CHRISTMAS CAKE 2 cups sugar 1 crip butter 4 eggs 1 cup molasses 2 cups sour cream 5 cups flour 1 tsp soda 3 tsp. baking pewder 1 lb raisins cherries 1# dates mixed fruit gum drops 1 tsp cloves 1 tsp nutmeg ¿4 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp alspioe Jn 1 tsp salt % lb. almonds h lb. brazils 1 lb. walnuts jWx Cream butter & sugar. Separate eggs and beat in one at a time. Add molasses and sour cream. Sift 4 cups flour, baking powder and add. Add beaten egg white last. Put other cup of flour over fruit. Add fruit. Bake in loaf pans which have been greased, lined with brown paper and greased again, in 250’ oven for 3*5 hours. Chapel Wednesday, November 28th at 2 p.m. with Bishop Tern Karren officiating. The family prayer was offered by Robert Burhham. The opening hymn by the choir was Rest, Rest for the weary" accompanied by Vinessa Hamilton on the organ with Gene Wheeler as chorister. Invocation was offered by Loren Nelson. Speaker for the service was Larry James. ** Dan Davies sang as a solo "Face to Face". Closing remarks were given by Bishop Karren following which the* choir sang the closing hymn "0 My Father". Helpful Hints: Copper Pots - fill a spray bottle with vinegar and add a tablespoor, of salt. Spray solution liberally on copper pot. Let set for awhile, then simply rub clean. Dip lemon halves in salt; rub or rub with worchestershire sauce or catsup. Burnt and Scorched Pans: Sprinkle burnt pots liberally with baking soda, adding just enough water to mosten. Let stand several hours. Energy You can generally lift burnt portion right out of the pan. Stubom stains or non-stick cookware can be removed by boiling 2 tablespoons of baking soda, % cup of vinegar and 1 cup of water for 10 minutes. Re-season pan with salad oil. Always place a jar lid or marbles in the bottom of your double boiler.
