President Jdype Holladay was the chair­man. Don Mayne, representing the New Horizons of the Federal Government, which supports fin­ancially projects such as this, offered con­gratulations on the success of our building. Other special guests included Mayor Forest Balderson representing the town, Alan Holt, the contractor, and Shelton Ririe of the M.D. of Cardston and all Board members. L.B. Tanner, accompanied by Vinessa Hamilton, sang very appropriately "When You're Young At Heart". After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, a delicious lunch was served. During the afternoon the Golden Mile Dancers frcsn Lethbridge Seniors entertained. Thanks are extended to all who helped with the Opening and also everyone who has contributed in any way to bring our building to its present stage of completion. ***** A VALENTINE PARTY will be held at the Seniors Centre on Friday, February 17, 1989 at 7:30 p.m. Bingo and other games will be played. ALM 500 ml |39 Mrs. Ida Mary Spencer, beloved wife of the late Howard J. Spencer, passed away on February 6, 1989 in Sequim, Washington. She was bom in Doncaster, Yorks, Eng­land on March 8, 1898, the daughter of Charles W. Fossey and Maud Mary Hobbs Fossey. Predeceased by her husband, Howard Spencer on April 5, 1976, she is survived by one sis­ter Mrs. Cecelia Dudley Foote of Magrath, three nieces and 1 nephew. Funeral services were held in Larkin Mortuary, Salt Lake City, Utah with Dean Chipman officiating. Organist was Lois Janke. The family prayer was offered by Eiden Coleman. Invocation was offered by Pete. Osman. The opening song " How Great Thou Art" was sung by Walt Boyden accompanied by Lois Janke. Speaker for the service was Dean Chipman. The closing song "A Perfect Day" was sung by Walt Boyden accompanied by Lois Janke. Arvilla Louthan offered the benediction. Pallbearers were Edward B-. Louthan, Eiden Coleman, Lloyd Ungrich, Blaine Neilson, Péce Osman and Dean Chipman. Interment took place in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dedication of the grave was given by Edward B. Louthan. Relatives attending the funeral service included Eiden and Marjorie Coleman, Blaine and Marilyn Neilson of Magrath, Ed and A-rvi 11 a Louthan of Sequim, Washington. The only people who enjoy hearing your troubles are lawyers and they're paid for it. MAGRATH MINOR HOCKEY NS T^THTADPOLES 11; Travelled to Foremost for a Tournament Saturday, February 11th taking third place in the event. • In the first game against Lethbridge, Magrath lost by a 7-1 score with Dustin Ririe scoring the goal. Justin Schurmann and Rhonda Strafe assisted. In Game #2 against Foremost Magrath won 4-2. Goals were by Mason Dahl (2) Casey Christensen (l&l) Rhonda Strafe (1) with 1 assist each to Braden Balderson, Jimmie Balderson and Justin Schurmann. Darren Balderson played excellent in goal both games. Thanks to coaches Rod Ririe and John Balderson. A terrific time was had by all at the Foremost "Hilton", getting home at 3 a.m. R.S. NOVICE: An exciting, close league game was played Wednesday evening February 8th when Magrath Novice hosted Coaldale Broncos. Coaldale defeated Magrath 5 to 3. Dustin Godionton scored 2 goals and Justin barker had 1. Landen Harker and Michael Balderson each had 1 assist. Saturday, February 11th saw Magrath in Picture Butte for another league game. Magrath defeated the host team 11-0. Goals and assists as follows: Lome Me Kelvey 3, Ryan Ripley 1-1; Justin Harker 1- 1; Dustin Godionton 1, Michael Balder­son 1, Garth Riegling 1, Landen Harker 2, Greg Henry 1-1. Assists also earned by ' Michael Heggie 2, Kurt Robinson 1 and Matthew Stanford 2. Greg Bourne worked hard and earned a well deserved fourth shut-out of the season. Tomlinson, beloved husband of Mrs. Marjorie Tomlinson of Magrath passed away in Magrath on Thursday, February 9, 1989 at the age of 69 years. Bom, raised and educated in Magrath, the late Earl Tomlinson owned and operated the Tomlinson Garage in Magrath until the 1950's when he began farming in the Bradshaw area and continued to do so until the tine of his passing. Besides his loving wife Marjorie, F.arl is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Flo Anne IRon) Hansen of Irricana, Alberta; two sons Norris (Pariel) Tomlinson of Magrath and Earl (Dorothy) Tomlinson Jr. of Pincher Creek; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie (Steve) Toth of Cal­gary and Mrs. Gertrude Williams, of Magrath; also numerous nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by his parents George and Florence Tomlinson and one brother. Cremation. A Private Family Service was held. Mrs. Emily Meyers of Sacramento, Calif, has been visiting Schneyder relatives, a guest at the home of her mother Mrs. S. Schneyder. She attended the wedding of her niece Debbie Schneyder and Gerry Zanoni which took plane Saturday, February 11th.
