Pandas travelled to the Green and Gold Classic Basketball Tournament (LCI) this past weekend. The Pandas started off playing Walter Murray. Kris Anderson lead the way for the ’Mighty’ Pandas with 41 point. They went to the semi final game with the LCI Clipper Queens, and lost by 10 points. But the Pandas cams back to win 3rd place against the Cardston Cougars. Patti Balderson won an All-Star award at the tourney. The Zeniths played and won over Walter Murray. Cassio Maffia scored 30 points to lead the Zeniths. They went on to play the LCI Rams but fell short at the end. The boys went on to play Lindsay Thurber and lost placing 4th over all in the tourney. The grade 9 boys played a game against the grade 9 from Cardston and came out victorious winning by 10 points. The grade 7 boys came away from their game against Cardston a little disappointed they lost by 7 points. Congratulations goes to Joanne Fazikos, the Chemistry student of the week. ******** TADPOLE HOCKEY: The Magrath Tadpoles held their tournament this weekend. Their first game was against Milk River ending in a 4-4 tie. The scorers were: Layne Gill 2-0, Todd Brandham 1-1, Shawn Ragan 1-0, Russell Ririe 0-1, Casey Hillmer 0-1, Todd Perks 0-1, Callan Gaff 0-1, Connor Barnett 0-1, Cole Barnett 0-1. Their second game was against Warner with a score of 6-4 for the Tadpoles. This game had team effort, each player came away with a goal or an assist: Layne Gill 2-0, Cole Barnett 1-1, Callan Gaff 1-2, Russell Ririe 1-0, Todd Brandham 1-0, Connor Barnett 0-1, Jason Ragan 0-1, Shawn Ragan 0-1, Casey Hillmer 0-1, Cole Schneyder 0-1, Todd Perks 0-1, Jeff Ripley 0-1. In their third game they played Vauxhall it’ 9-7 victory. Goals and assists wecemade b Cole Barnett a hat trick and 3 assists, Russe Ririe 2-3, Layne Gill 2-0, Callan Gaff 1-1, Todd Brandham 1-0, Jeff Ripley 3-0, Casey Hillmer 0­2, Todd Perks 0-2, Connor Barnett 0-1, Cole Schneyder 0-1, Jason Ragan 0-1, Shawn Ragan 0-1. For each game they presented one player from each team a Hustler Award. Layne Gill received it for the 1st game, Cole Barnett for the 2nd, and Callan Gaff for the 3rd. Good job boys. Also they had a Sharp Shooter Award. Connor Barnett and Todd Perks each won that award. This years tournament Includes a ten team ZENITH ALUMNI draw as well as 2 MEM MUMHI teams. In addition, the HOT SHOTS of the Elementary School will be competing on both days of the tournament. There will also be a Slam Thmk Competition and a »-POINT SHOOT OVTI This year's ten team draw will make for some very entertaining basketball.
