The single taxers from Milk River wanted a tax protection organization formed forwith. Farmers were advised not to sign the net worth statement as it was a stool pigeon in print. The McKenzie King government short on Amer­ican dollars have placed an embargo on goods coming from the U.S. also an embargo on all grain and livestock destined for that market. In fact trade is prohibited. They call it the austerity programme. Not content with the embargo an extra 25% excise tax has been placed on cars, electric appliances, etc. which are manufactured in Canada. let the Lethbridge Herald Is continually flouting the name of the late R. B. Bennett and his tariff policies which were only a drop in the ocean compared with the present prohibitive tariffs. The Herald is only a Charlie McCaity for the power-mad-politicians at Ottawa. LIONS 54 JACKS 1A We are again on even terms with those troublesome Jacks. After a hard-fought ex* tremely-even battle Magrath emerged the better team last night as they won 54-49. Jacks had ‘ • things pretty much their own way until after half, but from then on the Lions more than held their own. Wes, Dick and Blair were the scoring aces for Magrath but Max, Eldon, Phil and Jack contributed vitally to the Lion victory. On several occasions the boys played a stall deep in their fore court and switched smartly to an offensive that paid off with a vital basket. The Jacks looked good in defeat.
