A programme by members of the family was given, Joseph Gritchfield, master of ceremonies led in community singing with his sister Mrs. Pat Edgar as accompanist. Am interesting history of the Critchfield ance­stors was given by a nephew Arthur Spencer. Misses Beatrice and Barbara Edgar (grand­children of Lethbridge) sang two duets. Miss Joy Reber, also a grand-daughter of Raymond entertained with several readings. Miss Rae Nelson, grand-daughter of Magrath rend­ered a piano selection. Mr. Critchfield pleased all with his comical interpertation of the Irish Jubilee. Refreshments were served by members of the family after which a program of local talent was enjoyed* Miss Maxine McClain sang two vocal solos. Nyal Fletcher played a violin solo, he also gave an imitation of a trombone, and a Chinese Laundryman’s quartette, Howard Fletcher, Reed Bennett, Nyal Fletcher and Joseph Crit­chfield sang. These musicians were accomp­anied by Mrs. J. A. Ririe. Mr. & Mrs. A. B. Critchfield, their brothers and sister were put in the center of a huge family circle while the "Star Spangled Banner" was sung in honor of the visitors from the Unit­ed States, also God Save the King." After which photographs were taken by Cahoon’s Studio. Mrs. Critchfield’s two brothers .. H. C. Conrey of Sierra Madre, Calif, contractor and builder,' and Walter B. Conrey a linotype man of the Chicago Sun, have beem enjoying a visit with their sister and family this is the first time the three have been together for 50 years. Mr. Critchfield’s two brothers, E, J. of Ogden, Utah and D, D. of Denver, Colo, both carpenters are also j visiting with Mrs. Eleanor Spencer their sister, and the Critchfield family. Mrs. Clara Hirschkirn, a daughter of Bellingham, Wash, her daughter Marjorie Etherington and husband and children, also Carol Ethering­ton of Yakima, Wash, returned to their homes Thursday. Mrs. Pat Edgar accompanied them home. A grandson, Leroy Critchfield of Kam­loops, B. C. represented his fatherand mother Hr. & Mrs. Clarke Critchfield who were un­able to be present. Also Earl and Bumard were not present. The best float, we think, the Trading Co. ever had. The high pedestal and a glar­ing sun must have made the judges swivel­eyed. ..... Turner, general superintendent of Alberta Pool Elevators, retired on June 30th. He had been in the employ of the organization for 20 years, and in the grain business In Alberta for 38 years. He has been a resident of Alberta, since 1900, living formerly at Magrath & Leth­bridge. j/ Mr. Turner was the guest of honor at a dinner held in the Renfrew Club, Calgary on Monday, and attended by department heads of the Alberta Wheat Pool. R. D. Purdy, general manager, on behalf of the group, presented Mr. Turner with a golf bag. and a set of clubs. Mr. Purdy, in making the presentation, referred to the exceptional contribution rendered by Mr. Turner to Alberta Pool Elevator organiz­ation during his 20 years of service. C. Hen­derson presented Pioneer Ribbons to all those present who had been in Magrath during and prior to 1905. (There were 10 pioneers present, prior to 1899) . Miss Jolayne Thomson gave a recitation after which six young girls in pioneer costumes danced under the dir­ection of Mr, & Mrs. Vic Bchnet, A string instrument­al number was played by Mrs. Virginia Wilde, Mrs. Marj­orie Balderson, Misses Leila Taylor and Bernice Dahl and Mr. Nyal. Fletcher accompanied by Mrs. N. Fletcher, Elmer Ririe paid tribute to the pioneers, followed by a vocal solo by Miss Maxine McClain, The Relief Society served a very delicious dinner under the trees at the Assembly Hall, At 1 o'clock the children's races were enjoyed after which a stamp ie took the high-j.ights for the remainder of the afternoon- Winners in the following events were: Steer riding: Dean Harker, Gordon Rice, Tony Navratil, Wild Cow Milking: Eric Brown, Woody Anderson & Tony Navratils Ken Miller, Bob Gorham ft Doug Harkerj Roy Sheridan, Eric Brown & T. Dale farms 1100 acres and has three implements. A tandum plow, 10-ft. wide, price $650.00. The "cat" is a 60-horse 3 cylinder, with only 6 places to grease. There is a clock on the machinery indicating the time and every 2000 hours they grease the ’ tractor and plow. The diesel costs $5600.00 "The greatest piece of machinery aver made" said Owen. The drill is built something like a cultivator. Dale said it was 25 years ahead of the Canadian drill. F, Balderson, F. V. L con, H. C. Poulsen Jr. Turner; and Douglas Harker spent four days on the Elk and’the Flat Head Rivers in B.C. last week fishing. Fishing on the Elk the first two days netted the biggest catch, with forty-three cut throat trout filling the creels the first evening, rang­ing in size from nine to twelve inches. The following morning the anglers fished just for the enjoyment, releasing something over fifty fish, being unable to take proper care of them. Fishing that afternoon was also very good, with the tourists taking out some sixty fish when they left. Woods were held July 14th at Medicine Hat. The late Rev. Woods was a former pas­tor at the Magrath United Church. He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters and 12 grandchildren.................
