Speaking with Neal Lash, the driver at Del Bonita, he told us that it started to rain the night he got there and has rained ever since. (It looks like the proper thing to do is to bring Neal back to Magrath.) The Municipal Tax on farm land is now over pl.00 an a ere in these parts. So we had a talk with our councillor. Said Jack, "The Municipality is nothing but a collect­ing agency for the school and hospital:" Mill Rate: Municipal 11 School 36.15 Hospital 8.96 Total 56.11 "The trustees of school and hospital requisite for an ever increasing amount of money and all we do is collect it'." We told him all the culverts West of town were too small. "We can't provide cul­verts for flash floods," he said. So don't look for any relief from this source. No extra maintainer either. Looks like drag­ging our own roads. If the Municipality repairs the roads and culverts washed out, they will be kept busy this season. This will give the Women's Institute and the Leth­bridge Herald something to write about, how to control erosion, etc_ At the Rockport Colony, Eli Hofer, Hog Man at Rockport sold 25 hogs. Aver­age weight—206 pounds. Drought 556.0C each. They sell 600 hogs a year and sell them when they are seven months old. Once there was a committee at the Town Hall known as the Works and Property. The Mayor must have forgotten to appoint one this year. The town has a payroll of nearly $10r000 yearly. pile In Raymond Saturday we noticed a shack Aof gravel as large as the Assembly Hall. Three roads running north and south through the town had been gravelled. Approaches to residences with small steel culverts had been installed with only small drains (no bar pits) on either side. Why call it Works and property?On Tuesday, June 23rd at 1 P.M. a wed- Sing was solemnized at the home of Mr. & Mrs, Emil Ehlert, when their youngest daught­er Pearl became the bride of Mr. Robert Irv­in, son of Mr. <A Mrs. Alonzo Irvin, all of Salt Lake Qity, Bishop Horace Ririe offic­iated in the presence of immediate friends and relatives. The bride looked lovely in a white suit and matching hat, adorned in pearls. In the evening a reception was ten­dered, with the bride and groom, Mr. & Mrs. Emil Ehlert and Mr. d Mrs. Alonzo Irvin,as­sisted by Mrs, Bertha Evans, receiving the guests. Mrs, Kathleen Thompson was in choree of the guest book, while friends of the bride, Joan Karren, Tan Kunimoto, Marjorie Saga, Maxine Bridge acted as servitteurs for the tasty lunch of ice cream sundaes and cake. Misses Yoshie Nakane and Delilah Johnson served in the gift room where a lovely assortment of gifts were displayed. Mrs. Sarah Ehlert, sister-in-law of the bride was overseer of the refreshments. The bride and groom will make their home In Salt Lake City, where the groom is a stud­ent at the University of Utah. Congratul­atory wishes of the community are extended to them. Monday evening in the United Church Hall the Lion’s Club held their Ladies Night. Mr. Ted Brewerton of Lethbridge entertained the guests with movie films and commentaries of Uraguay and other South American countries, where he sjbent three years. Walt Fashuk pitched a fine game, allowing the opposition only four hits but the Miners capitalized on eight miscues from the Eag­les. Tom Karren. hit three singles, as did Grant Wheeler, Wes Lice a single and a double, and Forrest Balderson a h~me run. Gordon Rice was behind the plate for both games. Norm Hillmer pitched 7 innings in the second tilt, with both Gene Rice and Forrest Balderson stepping in to relieve.
