Somatic embryogenesis is the process with which somatic cells, under appropriate conditions create embryonic cells that undergo a series of morphological and biochemical changes, resulting to the development of somatic embryos. The somatic embryos are bipolar structures, containing an embryonic root-shoot axis with a closed, independent vascular system. The somatic embryos might be created by either direct somatic embryogenesis or indirect somatic embryogenesis. The somatic embryogenesis is based on the cell dynamics of higher plants. The induction conditions include appropriate nutrients, plant-developing regulators, light regulation and adjustment of the plant species to nutrients.
