Oxidative stress (OS) has been linked to cellular senescence as well as to etiopathology of many diseases including age-related diseases, such as osteoarthritis. Both OS and cellular senescence have been associated with autophagy, although studies demonstrate the dual role of autophagy, with data supporting its role in both inhibiting and inducing cellular senescence.
