The local geometry of chaotic billiards

We introduce a transformation (stretching transformation) which projects the boundary of a billiard on the unit disk. This introduces a non-Euklidean metric on the plane and a differential operator which contains all relevant information of the shape of the boundary. Quantum mechanically the Laplace-Beltrami operator is constructed and we obtain the energy spectrum of the billiards. Ellipsis square stadium Robnik’s billiard and lemon, with the use of perturbation theory or with numerical diagonalization. We can construct the analytical expressions of the eigenfunctions of the above billiards, for the region between integrability and chaos, and we present the pictures of probability density, nodal lines and amplitude distribution for a family of e perturbative. A graphical test is introduced, which can distinguish between the integrable and the almost chaotic billiards. Finally, we introduce the open billiard concept where we assume that the boundary is at infinity, and we study the behavior of these open regions, where the integrability and chaos can be distinguished on the local geometry.Η παρούσα διατριβή έχει ως θέμα της, το κβαντικό χάος σε μπιλλιάρδα. Εισάγεται ένας μετασχηματισμός (Μετασχηματισμός Εφελκυσμού), ο οποίος προβάλλει το σύνορο ενός μπιλλιάρδου στον μοναδιαίο κύκλο. Αυτό εισάγει μια μη-Ευκλείδια μετρική στο επίπεδο και ένα διαφορικό τελεστή, ο οποίος περιέχει όλη την πληροφορία σχετικά με το σχήμα του συνόρου και τις ιδιότητες, ως προς την ολοκληρωσιμότητα ή μη του μπιλλιάρδου. Κβαντικά κατασκευάζεται ο τελεστής Laplace-Beltrami και παίρνουμε το φάσμα των μπιλλιάρδων: έλλειψη, τετράγωνο στάδιο, μπιλλιάρδο του Robnik και λεμόνι, με χρήση της θεωρίας διαταραχών ή με αριθμητική διαγωνοποίηση. Επίσης, κατασκευάζονται αναλυτικά οι ιδιοσυναρτήσεις των παραπάνω μπιλλιάρδων για μια ενδιάμεση περιοχή μεταξύ ολοκληρωσιμότητας και χάους, και φτιάχνονται γραφικές παραστάσεις της πυκνότητας πιθανότητας των δεσμικών γραμμών και της κατανομής πλάτους. Εισάγεται ένα γραφικό τεστ, που διακρίνει τα ολοκληρώσιμα από τα εν δυνάμει χαοτικά μπιλλιάρδα. Τέλος εισάγεται η έννοια του ανοικτού μπιλλιάρδου, όπου το σύνορο θεωρείται ότι βρίσκεται στο άπειρο, και μελετούμε την συμπεριφορά αυτών των ανοικτών περιοχών, όπου η διαφοροποίηση μεταξύ τους έγκειται στην διαφορετική τοπική γεωμετρία
