The NUTRIC (Nutrition Risk in the Critically Ill) and modified NUTRIC scores are nutrition risk assessment tools specifically for intensive care unit (ICU) patients. A modified NUTRIC score is composed of all variables except for IL-6 level in the NUTRIC score. Their use in qualifying critically ill patients at nutritional risk has been extensively evaluated, although not in studies of patients with sepsis, when interleukin 6 levels, which are not included in the modified NUTRIC score, may be elevated.
