POLA KOMUNIKASI ANTAR BUDAYA ETNIS JAWA, MADURA DAN TIONGHOA (Studi Pada Warga yang Tinggal di RW 07 Kelurahan Purwantoro Malang)

There are various misconceptions still happening when the different cultural groups meet and interact. In addition, each member considers culture as a certainty without taken for granted and uses it as a standard for measuring other cultures. Hence, the problem of this research is “How the pattern communication between Javanese, Maduranese, and Chinese in RW 07 Kelurahan Purwantoro Kota Malang occured?” This study has adopted Intercultural Communication theory approach which refers in one phenomenon which by the participants interacted each other directly or indirectly with different culture background. This research was classified as qualitative descriptive research, where the research instruments were observation, interview, and documentation. Interactive analysis has used as data analysis which refers to Miles, Matthew B, and Huberman, A. Michael. This research found that there are two communication patterns; (1) Circular communication pattern, in which these three etniticities have the positive feedback so the communication go on continously, (2) Primary communication pattern, in which they use symbol as media and channel in the process of communication. There is no factors that inhibit the pattern of inter-etnich between Javanese, Maduranese, and Chinese. The language used is Javanese language. Maduranese and Chinese have long lived in that area so it has been mixed with Javanese ethnicticity
