Yeats's play The King's Threshold presents itself as a Romantic manifesto in favour of the recognition of the place of the poet and of his art in our society. The social dimension, the pagan or Christian marvellous element and messianism are the three pillars which support this poetic art. It is a considerable contribution to Yeats's poetic theory which has always been animated by the ideals which are expressed here.
