Le Poète et la poésie dans The King's Threshold de Yeats

Yeats's play The King's Threshold presents itself as a Romantic manifesto in favour of the recognition of the place of the poet and of his art in our society. The social dimension, the pagan or Christian marvellous element and messianism are the three pillars which support this poetic art. It is a considerable contribution to Yeats's poetic theory which has always been animated by the ideals which are expressed here. Should we not also see in Seanchan one of the prototypes of martyrdom of which history gives so many examples ?La pièce de Yeats, The Kings Threshold, se présente comme un manifeste romantique en faveur d'une reconnaissance de la place du poète et de son art au sein de la société. La dimension sociale, le merveilleux païen ou chrétien et le messianisme sont les trois piliers sur lesquels s'appuie cet art poétique. C'est un apport considérable à la théorie poétique de Yeats qui n'a cessé d'être animé par les idéaux qui y sont exprimés. Ne faut-il pas aussi voir en Seanchan l'un des prototypes du martyre dont l'histoire de l'Irlande fournit de nombreux exemples ?Genet Jacqueline.
