Among the 87 inscriptions from the city of Vienne concerning the "imperial cult" from Augustus to Claudius II, mainly found in towns and urban areas, five main kinds may be distinguished : direct tributes to the living emperors and to the members of the imperial family, monuments dedicated to the Emperor's safeguard, dedications to deities to the Emperor's family safeguard, dedications to the Augustus divine mightnesses and dedications to the emperor's Victory. Most of these inscriptions are public actings of political loyalism, or fidelity to the emperors and their relatives but a religious process is sure concerning some inscriptions.
