Rysk romantik på svenska : hur den ryska romantiken introducerades på svenska och varför

In this article, the author describes the translation of Russian romantic prose and poetry into Swedish in Sweden and Finland during the period 1825-50. The result indicates major differences between the introduction of the Russian romantics in Sweden and Finland. In Sweden, most of the translations are adventure novels (Bulgarin, Marlinskij, Puškin), and the paratext shows a tendency towards cultural estrangement towards Russia. In Finland, Russian poetry is more widely translated, and the translations are embedded in an attitude of greater respect and interest than in Sweden.
