Distribution of Tbr2+ mitotic cells during neocortical development.

<p>Numbers represent the proportion of Tbr2+ mitotic cells that were located in each compartment of the developing somatosensory cortex expressed as a percentage of the total number of Tbr2+ mitoses in a 200 µm wide radial unit. Cells were identified by Tbr2 immunoreactivity in a minimum of three 200 µm radial unit sections from each age in each species. Mitoses were identified with 4A4 immunoreactivity or by condensed chromatin in DAPI stained tissue. Numbers in parentheses indicate the total number of Tbr2+ mitotic cells counted in each compartment at each age.
