Internal reinforcement of the root canal using glass ionomer endodontic cement

La odontología restauradora tiene entre sus objetivos, devolver la anatomía y funciones de los dientes afectados por una enfermedad o iatrogenia, a la vez que preservar la estructura dentaria remanente. Al respecto, al tratar un diente con el tercio coronal del conducto radicular sobre ensanchado, el odontólogo, además de conservar la estructura dentaria ha de reforzar las paredes internas de ese conducto radicular, para proporcionarle las características biomecánicas que permitan restaurarlo. El material para reforzar las paredes internas del conducto radicular debe tener un módulo de elasticidad cercano al de la dentina, con el fin de evitar la fractura de la estructura dentaria remanente.
