The dissertation is an attempt to utilise Czech humoristic periodicals as a source from the point of v i ew of social history. The main axis in all the thematic units represents the change in the viewpoint of contributors in connection with the introduction of general and equal voting rights in the pre-Litava (Leitha) year of 1907. Humour is a starting-point for knowledge of society, the caricature as a phenomenon of the beginnings of mass culture. Humour and Identity.
