Some Problems in Investigating Labor Resources by the Balance Method

Problems of estimating and planning labor resources acquire special importance in the light of the national economic tasks that are to be fulfilled under the current twenty-year plan. The relationship between the growth of the social product and that of the number of persons employed in the national economy is expected to be strained. Suffice it to say that the gross social product is to increase 5 times, industrial output - 6 times, and gross agricultural output - 3.5 times, while the number of persons employed in the national economy is expected to increase over the same period by only 40% (taking into account the influx of able-bodied personnel from household work and personal subsidiary plots).
