This paper outlines and discusses how the democratic system of Latin America (LA) has perpetuated the proliferation of economic, social, and educational inequality, among others. The theoretical-conceptual support analysed some specific literature and international indicators to ontologically reconstruct the reality of a region rich in resources but lacking equitable and egalitarian political systems for the well-being of citizens. Methodologically, estimates from databases and statistical publications of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) were used in terms of Gini concentration indices of 13 Latin American countries.
