Enoslojna epitelijska tkiva tvorijo tesno zložene celice, ki na apikalni strani oblikujejo poligonsko tlakovanje. Strukturo teh tkiv lahko opišemo z dvorazsežnim modelom s površinsko in linijsko elastičnostjo, ki temelji na fizikalnih značilnostih celične notranjosti in stikov med celicami. V tem delu površinski člen v energiji predelamo tako, da omogočimo spreminjanje preferenčne ploščine celic na račun sosed, kar ustreza izmenjavi snovi med celicami. Tako razširjeni model, dopolnjen z značilnimi dinamičnimi procesi kot so celične delitve, smrti in topološki prehodi T1, analiziramo numerično v ogliščni upodobitvi.
