La Belgique à travers les textes – Potenziale des sprachlichen und soziokulturellen Wissenserwerbs

With data from the French comic 'Astérix chez les Belges' and its German translation, this chapter studies some linguistic specificities of the Belgian variety of French. In a contrastive perspective it shows that the German equivalents do not properly reflect the characteristics of the Belgian variety. The chapter further explores the socio-cultural aspects expressed in the comics, either visually as well as verbally. Finally, it elaborates on the possible pedagogical applications and the use of comics in foreign language teaching
