Prevalencia y morbilidad de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en adultos mayores en Latinoamérica.

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder that occurs when the pancreas can not produce an adequate amount of insulin that the body requires to function correctly, it is related to an unhealthy lifestyle. This work shows that  disease increases over the years, the objective is to analyze the prevalence and morbidity of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in older adults in Latin America and in the methodology, an explanatory documentary design study was carried out, it was taken from the databases, PubMed, SciELO, Dialnet, Google Scholar, Redalyc, Medigraphic, Elsevier and official websites: WHO, PAHO, MSP, FID, the Boolean terms “and” and “or” which were used, information from the last ten years was included , based on the reviewed investigations, it was observed within the results that the causes were overweight or obesity, smoking, poor diet and the complications were arterial hypertension, nephropathy, polyneuropathy, retinopathy, neuropathy, cerebrovascular disease, ischemic disease, deterioration cognitive, therefore, preventive measures is to maintain good eating habits, healthy lifestyle, avoid tobacco, alcohol, physical activity and in conclusion, DM2 appears as a result of a lifestyle marked by sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating, weight gain, physical inactivity, therefore, there are serious complications due to comorbidities and the morbidity rate increases due to the causes of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.La diabetes mellitus tipo 2 es un trastorno metabólico que ocurre cuando el páncreas no puede originar la cantidad adecuada y debida de insulina que requiere el organismo para funcionar de forma correcta, se relaciona con el estilo de vida no saludable. Este trabajo demuestra que esta enfermedad se incrementa al pasar de los años, cuyo objetivo es Analizar la prevalencia y morbilidad de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en adultos mayores en Latinoamérica y en la metodología, se realizó un estudio de diseño documental explicativo, se tomó de las bases de datos, PubMed, SciELO, Dialnet, Google Schoolar, Redalyc, Medigraphic, Elsevier y sitios Web oficiales: OMS, OPS, MSP, FID, se empleó término booleanos “and” y “or”, se incluyó información de los últimos diez años, en base a las investigaciones revisadas se observó dentro de los resultados que las causa fueron el sobrepeso u obesidad, tabaquismo, mala alimentación y las complicaciones fueron las hipertensiones arteriales, nefropatía, polineuropatía, retinopatía, neuropatía, enfermedad cerebro vascular, enfermedad isquémica, deterioro cognoscitivo, por ende, las medidas preventivas es mantener buenos hábitos alimenticios, estilo de vida saludable, evitar tabaco, alcohol, realizar actividad física y en conclusión, la DM2 aparece como resultado del estilo de vida marcado por el sedentarismo y alimentación poco saludable, aumento de peso, inactividad física, por ello, existen complicaciones graves a causa de las comorbilidades y la tasa de morbilidad aumenta debido a las causas de diabetes mellitus tipo 2
