3,5-Diaryl (or alkylaryl)-imino-1,2,4-dithiazolidines on being allowed to react with aromatic primary amines afford the related N-(diarylformamidino)-N’-aryl or alkyl thiocarbamides. The 5-methylphenylamino and 5-ethylphenylamino-3-phenylimino-1,2,4-dithiazolines, both with aniline, however, afford one and the same product, the N-(diphenylformamidino)-N’-phenylthiocarbamide. The formamidinothiocarbamides, so obtained, on oxidation undergo ring closure to appropriately substituted 1,2,4-thiadiazolidines
