Interaction of Bis-Methyl/Benzyl Formamidine Disulphide Dihydrobromides with certain Ketones: Formation of Thiazoles and Thiazolines

The reaction of bis-methyl and benzyl formamidine disulphide dihydrobromides with acetone, ethyl methyl ketone, acetophenon, ethyl acetoacetate and cyclohexanone has been investigated. Excepting the ease of ethyl acetoacetate and acetone where the usual 2-alkylamino thiazoles were obtained, the isomeric 3-alkyl-4-thiazolines were the exculsive products of the reaction.
