Apiosporina morbosa is a pathogen that causes black knot disease of plants of the genus Prunus sp. The main host of the agrophage is the house plum (P. domestica), but the common cherry and species less commonly grown in the PRA area, such as the common peach, common apricot and japanese plum, are also infected. The disease manifests itself by the appearance of initially green and later black thickenings and growths (black knots) on tree branches. Infected trees dwarf and become twisted. If the nodule forms a ring around the branches, it leads to their death.
