Recent trends in the urban growth of Agen, sw France. Agen, Lot-et-Garonne, a medium sized provincial town of SW France and the administrative center of a département, lying halfway from Toulouse to Bordeaux, the two major regional centers, has a total population of 55 000 inhabitants in the urban area. Its demographic and spatial evolution is quite comparable to that of the other towns which belong to the same group and level in the region : Auch, Tarbes, Cahors, Rodez.
