El sentido místico del alfabeto hebreo según Jerónimo de Estridón

This article is the result of a research prompted by the reading of Jerome’s Letter 30 to Paula, in which the first one explains to the matron the mystical sense of the alphabet. This work aims at analyzing Jerome’s interpretation of the alphabet so as to expound the possible origin of Hermeneutics, its exegetical trascendence, and compare it with the later kabbalistic interpretation. Certain convenient distinctions are made as a starting point: the origin and nature of the aleph-bet,  his trascendence in Biblical literature and in the judeo Christian tradition, in order to understand the succint interpretation by Jerome. Regarding the latter, some sources have been propose  which the Saint may have known. Finally, there is an analysis of the later interpretation the Jewish Kabbalah made of the aleph bet, under the view of one of its specialists.este artículo es producto de una investigación originada por la lectura de la Carta 30 de Jerónimo de Estridón a Paula, donde el primero explica a la matrona el sentido místico del alefato. El objetivo del trabajo ha sido analizar la interpretación del alefato de San Jerónimo para dar cuenta del posible origen de esa hermenéutica, de la trascendencia exegética de la misma y compararla con la interpret ación cabalística posterior. Se ha partido de ciertas distinciones convenientes: el origen y naturaleza del alefato y su trascendencia en la literatura bíblica y en la tradición judeo-cristiana para comprender la escueta interpretación jeronimiana. Respecto de esta última, se han propuesto algunas fuentes de las que el Estridonense pudo abrevar para llegar a tal conocimiento. Por último, se analiza la posterior interpretación que del alefato dio la Cábala judía a la luz de uno de sus especialistas
