Psychosis and motherhood : incidences and subjective solutions in the construction of the Oedipus complex in children

A partir de la notion de vulnérabilité psychotique et des travaux interactionnistes, l’Organisation mondiale de la santé identifie les enfants nés de mères psychotiques comme à haut-risque : risque de développer une psychose et risque de maltraitance. La psychanalyse montre qu’il existe des enfants de mères psychotiques s’inscrivant dans le champ de la névrose. A travers la construction de cas en psychanalyse nous proposons l’analyse de cas cliniques de névroses adultes ayant des mères psychotiques. Nous rétablirons la complexité de la construction de l’œdipe chez l’enfant en resituant le complexe familial ainsi que la place et la fonction du père. Les incidences subjectives de la psychose de la mère se situent principalement dans le rapport de l’enfant à l’amour dans son articulation au désir. Parallèlement, le phénomène de l’incroyance dans la psychose maternelle induit chez ces enfants un désir de savoir renforcé apparaissant comme la solution majeure pour subjectiver cet effet-mère.Based on the notion of psychotic vulnerability and interactionist work, the World Health Organization identifies children born to psychotic mothers as being at high risk: risk of developing a psychosis and risk of abuse. Psychoanalysis shows that there are children of psychotic mothers who are part of the neurosis field. Through the construction of cases in psychoanalysis this paper proposes the analysis of clinical cases of adult neurosis with psychotic mothers. The aim of is to re-establish the complexity of the construction of the Oedipus complex in the child by resituating the family complex as well as the place and the function of the father. The subjective incidences of the mother's psychosis are mainly situated in the child's relationship to love in its articulation with desire. At the same time, the phenomenon of disbelief in the maternal psychosis induces in these children a reinforced desire to know appearing as the major solution to subjectivize this mother effect
