Einleitung: Bei grenzwertigen Restenosen nach operativer oder interventioneller Therapie einer Aortenisthmusstenose (ISTA) ist die Indikation zur weiteren Diagnostik und Therapie nicht immer einfach zu stellen. Der Stellenwert der Belastungsechokardiographie im Kindesalter sollte untersucht werden. Methodik: Im Zeitraum von April 2000 bis Dezember 2001 wurden 31 Patienten nach operativer Korrektur einer Aortenisthmusstenose auf einem Liegefahrradergometer mit Steigerung des Pedalwiderstands um 0,5 Watt/kg Körpergewicht alle 2 min bis zur subjektiven körperlichen Erschöpfung belastet (Gruppe 1).
