A MODERN URBANIZATION ON TRADITIONAL CITY IN THE RURAL OF TURKEY REPUBLIC THE SAMPLE OF MARDIN CITY

The study analyzed the Mardin city which has been located in the rural area of Turkey had been conserved the traditional urban structure and show how to develop in the future. The first meddling to the traditional urban texture had started at late Ottoman period (19th century) with the improvement in the road. In the Republic of Turkey period with the decision of "the modern is good", the reinforced concrete buildings have placed in the urban structure. From 1950s to 1980s, the new structuring has developed tosoutheast side of citadel (from Savurkapı neighborhood to Nusaybin town district). This development has started with public buildings construction. So the first planed development has stand into southeast of the city by the public buildings. This topographical undevelopable field has slow down the town extension after the 1980s. Herein, the northwest side of the city called "Yenisehir" which has been built up area, formed the urbanization. In the same time, the plain settlement of the Mardin has named as "Istasyon Town" because of the train station, has started to form. In 1990s the neighborhoods in Yenisehir has formed with civil cooperative society. From 2000s to present zoning in Yenisehir has been inextricable because of hyperactive construction
