Collaboration Between Faculty and Success Coaches: A Model for Student Achievement

As Utah State University emerges from the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be especially important for instructors to be aware of resources available to them and their students. In this workshop, Heidi Kesler (director within the Student Achievement Collaborative) and Michael King (Case Manager) review evidence-based literature and data that has led to the implementation of the Student Academic Achievement Alert (SAAA). This presentation will focus primarily on how faculty/instructors will partner with units within the Student Achievement Collaborative to assist students to align their effort with their aspirations. Faculty will be shown the data and behaviors which indicate a student is in need of some intervention. Presenters will help participants become familiar with the SAAA form, provide clear guidelines for when the form is to be used, guide participants through the process of form submission, and discuss what to expect following the submission of a SAAA form. Outreach and best practices surrounding executive function, academic skill-building, and success brokering will also be discussed
