A Neotropical species, all of whose known parasitic stages have been found on Didelphimorphia: Didelphidae, and Rodentia: Cricetidae and Heteromyidae; females alone have been collected from Rodentia: Muridae; immature stages have been recovered from Rodentia: Dasyproctidae, Echimyidae and Sciuridae. There are no records of Ixodes venezuelensis causing human parasitism.
