Article discusses how young farmer, Ron Wise of Gnowangerup originally conceived a method of getting maximum water absorption on hill land, using the basic idea of Keyline which has been used by Wise as a water harvesting technique. The Wise property has 17 dams with a total capacity of more than 22,000 cubic yards. In the Keyline plan the land is worked by chisel plough creating a contour line crossing valleys at their first main point of slope flattening. In the high rainfall areas of the Eastern States where this has been used this has not been a deterrent to water harvesting.
