Gingin farmer Ian Collard is turning an underground flooding problem that wreaked havoc on the soil into productive farmland using the Whittington Interceptor Bank System and sub-surface water management system. Gavin Drew, WISALTS senior consultant, said "Once you get the water back, the soil structure will change and you will see an increase in production, which uses more water so there is less run-off". Using a divining rod, Mr Drew looked at the field barriers and the contours of the land, designing a 600-metre interceptor bank along the western boundary to control the sub-surface water movement and deliver the surplus to a safe point.
