Brookton pasture improvement

Article discusses the Brookton Pasture Improvement Group's annual Field Day held on September 11. The President, MR. C.E.H. Pech conducted the tour of inspection with approximately 40 farmers and 20 children from the Brookton School, attending. Present at the Field Day included, Mr. N. Davenport, Agricultural adviser; Mr. L.D. White, Agricultural adviser for Narrogin; Mr. J. Watson, Soil Conservation Officer; and Mr. Farrow, representative for Cuming Smith and Mt. Lyell Fertilisers Ltd. The group inspected the soil conservation work being carried out on the property of Mr. Harry Whittington at East Brookton. Mr. Watson gave a comprehensive talk on the work to date and was supported in his remarks by Mr. Harry Whittington. The work being done to increase productivity on high lands and avoid erosion by Mr. Whittington and in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture proved to be of great interest. The officers from the Department of Agriculture impressed their audience with their sincerity of purpose, reiterating their willingness to co-operate with farmers for the improvement of their land and imparting knowledge at their research stations and individual farms.
