By using the unpublished correspondence between Mr. Rosa and his translator to the English language, Mrs. Harriet de Onís, this article discusses the translation process carried out by both the autor and the translator through a survey of some of their ideas about the nature of the literary creation and translation.Utilizando a correspondência inédita de Guimarães Rosa e sua tradutora para a língua inglesa, Mrs. Harriet de Onís, o trabalho comenta o processo tradutório realizado em conjunto pelo autor e tradutora, através do levantamento de algumas de algumas de suas reflexões sobre a natureza da criação e tradução literárias
