La Clauis Physicae (316-529) di Honorius Augustodunensis. Studio e edizione

The Clauis Physicae is a Latin epitome of John Scottus Eriugena’s Periphyseon written by the prolific author of the Western twelfth-century Church, Honorius Augustodunensis. It therefore constitutes one of the most important witnesses to medieval Eriugenism. This volume contains the first critical edition of Clauis Physicae (316-529), a work of great interest in matter both of ecdotics, for the reconstruction of the text, which reproduces almost verbatim the Book V of Periphyseon, and of theoretics, for the illustration of the themes typical of neo-Platonic philosophy in Eriugena’s Christian eschatology, among which is the doctrine of the return of all created natures into the original source of God. Integrating the pars prior of the Clauis Physicae (1-315), edited by Paolo Lucentini, Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura, Rome 1974, the present edition of the pars altera of the Clauis Physicae (316-529), edited by Pasquale Arfé, provides finally the possibility of a complete reading of Periphyseon’s special textual interpretation by Honorius Augustodunensis
