Comparación de la producción de Coffea Arabica L. var Caturra (Rubiaceae) con sombra y sin sombra, en Palmira, Alto Lino, y Horqueta, Boquete, Chiriquí.

This study was conducted at three places: Palmyra, Alto Lino and Horqueta in the district of Boquete, from 2009 to 2010 with the objective of evaluating the effect of different species of shade trees on coffee(Coffea arabica var. Caturra) production. In the three sampling sites were determined a coffee area with shade trees and one without shade trees in circular plots of 1000 m². In each plot five shrubs of coffee chose themselves at random. In each shrub two branches were chosen at random in wick the mature fruits were counted and weighed to compare the results between plots. By comparing the total average number and weight of coffee fruits in the shade and no shade, no significant differences (P> 0.05) but between locations showed highly significant differences (P <0.01), probably due to the difference in altitude, diversity of tree species and pruning shade between locations. Were collected and identified 9 families, ll genera and 10 species of trees associated with the cultivation of Coffea arabica, in three plots of 1000 m². In each plot, Hive randomly chosen coffee. In each coffee tree two branches were selected at random. Mature fruits were counted and weighed to compare the results between plots. The most common and most abundant in the areas of Alto Lino and Horqueta was: Inga oerstediana, family Fabaceae. Among the native or endemic species include: Inga oerstediana, Conostegia obtusifolia,xalapensis, Myrsine coriaceae, Aulomyrcia tomentosa. Palmira is more diverse Horqueta y Alto Lino, but Horqueta and Alto Lino Inga are trees for shade in different proportions, so that in Alto Lino there is a balance between Inga shade trees and other species. Keywords: coffee, tree shade, tree without shade, production.El presente estudio se realizó en tres sitios: Palmira, Alto Lino y Horqueta en el distrito de Boquete, desde el año 2009 al 2010 con el objetivo de evaluar el efecto de la sombra de diferentes especies de Arboles sabre la producción de café (Coffea arabica var. Caturra). Se baso en el uso de parcelas circulares de 1000 m²: En los tres sitios de muestreo se determino un área de cafetos con arboles de sombra y otra sin arboles. En cada parcela se escogieron al azar cinco cafetos. En dada cafeto se seleccionaron dos ramas al azar. Se contaron los frutos maduros y se pesaron para luego comparar los resultados entre las parcelas, ademas se estima la densidad de siembra de los arbustos. Al comparar las medias totales de cantidad y el peso de los frutos producidos en arbustos de café a la sombra y sin sombra, no se observaron diferencias significativas (P>0.05); pero si hubo diferencias altamente significativas (P
