Tingkat Kesadaran Hukum Mahasiswa Terhadap Undang Undang Nomor 8 Tahun 1999 Tentang Perlindungan Konsumen (Studi Kasus Mahasiswa Fakultas Hukum Universitas Islam Riau)

Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection Law which came into force on 20 April 2000 is a product of legislation to protect the interests of consumers in Indonesia. Although the title of this Consumer Protection Law is about Consumer Protection, the material is more about business actors, with the aim of protecting consumers. This is because in general the losses suffered by consumers are the result of the behavior of business actors, so it needs to be regulated so as not to harm consumers, the Consumer Protection. Especially among students, not all students have an understanding of the level of legal awareness of the students of the Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Riau against Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. This research is a field research (Field Research), which uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, namely by looking at the level of legal understanding and legal awareness of students from the Faculty of Law, Islamic University of Riau, which is then explained systematically about the data obtained in the study based on a review. from the problem formulation. From this research, it can be concluded that 40 percent of students have a high legal understanding, and the level of legal awareness owned by students of the Faculty of Law is also high, namely 41 percent. This can be seen from the 4 indicators of legal awareness that are used as a measuring tool in this study, namely legal knowledge. legal understanding, legal attitude and legal behavior. Based on the results of this research, it can be said that the implementation of the Consumer Protection Law has been successful, so it can be said that the government is going well in socializing it in the campus environment, both in the form of seminars and special lectures
