Level of knowledge of mothers regarding newborn screening in selected hospitals in Cavite

The study utilized the descriptive design. Using convenience sampling technique, a total of 50 mothers who subjected their child to newborn screening at De La Salle University Medical Center, General Trias Maternity and Pediatric Hospital, Korea-Philippines Friendship Hospital, Our Lady of Pillar Medical Center, and Tanza Family General Hospital participated as the respondents of the study. Data was obtained using a self-made questionnaire and analyzed through frequency distribution, percentage distribution, mean, Analysis of Variance via f-test, and t-test of independent means. The study concluded that, 1) Majority of the respondents were 20-30 years old, reached college level, have an income of P6,001 to P10,000, married, and have one child. Half of them were employed while half were unemployed; 2) The respondents showed an above average level of knowledge on newborn screening; 3) There is a significant different in the level of knowledge of mothers regarding newborn screening when they are grouped according to the monthly family income and civil status while there is no significant difference on the level of knowledge of the respondents when they were grouped according to age, educational attainment, employment status, and number of offspring
